What you don't know about kid's brain, secrets behind genius minds

What you don't know about kid's brain

Do you know that, the kid's brain nearly full grown - up to 90% - by age 5 and during early childhood, the right brain develops more rapidly than the left? For the first few years of life, a child's brain undergoes rapid growth and development, creating the foundation for cognitive, social, and emotional skills.

Stages of kid's brain development

The brain grows starting with the brain stem, then midbrain and finally the outer cortex or neocortex. As soon as the neocortex develops, it connects with the right hemisphere first. During that time, the corpus callosum is still developing and bridges the right and the left brain. The left brain is not actively utilized until a child is between 4 and 6 years old. This means, the right brain side is wide open typically during the first 6 years of babies’ lives. We (left-brain dominant adults) need to sync with them in this aspect. If your child has an imaginary friend, it is totally normal because of their right brain dominance.

The importance of excercise for kid's brain

Now, we know babies develop the right brain first, but what makes the brain grow? By use, just like any of our muscles, the brain needs exercise to become sharper. Its growth can be stopped, slowed, most importantly, it can be speeded up. Via stimulation, neurons are generated, migrate to their designated positions, and form connections with other neurons. Brain grows thanks to thousands of millions of connections it makes (neuron synapse) while processing information exposed to it. it is not the size, it is the number of connections that makes it genius. When we don't exercise our brain, there are no new connections made inside the brain. Ultimately, use it or lose it. At Smartizen, we can help to multiply your baby's neuron synapse network by giving them a rich and meaningful input foundation.

How to speed up the brain’s development? To provide all stimulation via all of the baby's 5 senses with increased frequency, intensity and duration. Simulations are done on purpose, with meaningful, rich, high quality and real-life content. This process creates input pathways in their brain. In response to incoming sensory input, the brain then makes output pathways that make babies function well in mobility, language or manual and cognitive competence. Once babies have been exposed to rich and meaningful inputs of information in their first few years, the brain will have a great foundation to solve problems later in life. Such input and output pathways build a strong “bridge” between the right and the left brain. As a result, the "gray matter" is produced at a greater scale for babies who have been sent to early education.

When should we start right brain training for kids?

Research shows that all significant growth of the brain is finished by the age of 6 years , it is when 90% of the brain growth is happening. Other advanced parents have started prenatal classes! The right brain growth window time normally only lasts for the first 3-6 years in their life. After 3 years old, babies tend to use less of their right side, this gives more space for the left brain to thrive. The ability to take in raw facts is an inverse function of age. The older we get, the harder it is to take in raw facts. Starting learning early will give your child a right ahead advantage in life.

At Smartizen, we draw inspiration from the groundbreaking work of Dr. Montessori and Dr. Doman, who both recognized the incredible potential of early childhood education and whole brain development. Leveraging their insights, we design programs that exercise and stimulate a kid's brain, knowing that the more it is used, the more it grows.
